Empowering Children Through “Community Learning Centers”

Education is a basic human right; however, numerous children in the Madhesh Province of Nepal, particularly those from underprivileged communities, do not have access to it. Factors such as poverty, geographic obstacles, and social barriers often prevent these children from attending school. Acknowledging this urgent issue, Mithila Wildlife Trust, with the assistance of PIPAL TREE, has made a noteworthy move by establishing Community Learning Centers (CLCs) in the Dhanusha district and other areas of the province.

What is a Community Learning Centre?

A Community Learning Centre is a free education hub where children, particularly from underprivileged backgrounds, receive tuition and learning support. Many of these children either do not attend school at all or struggle with their studies due to a lack of proper guidance. The CLCs bridge this gap by offering free tuition and educational resources to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to learn.

How We Operate

– Local Teachers: We believe in community-led education. That’s why we have recruited teachers from the same communities who understand the children’s needs and challenges.

– Inclusive Learning: Any child who wants to learn is welcome, no matter their background.

-Pipal Tree an UK based charitable organization help us provide training with our internal fund.

How many Community Learning Center we have?

We are successfully running four CLCs. As of today our Dhanusha Dham CLC has 170 Students, Lakkar CLC has 56 Students, Janakpur CLC has 25 Students and Bhaluwaha CLC has 50 Students.

These CLCs have students from classes 1 to 8. The locations of the different CLCs are as follows:

Kamala Municiplity-5 Lakar (Salhes Tole)

Kamala Municiplity-5 Bhaluwaha

Janakpurdham sub-metropolitan-7 (Kohariy Tole)

Our mission is ongoing, and we aim to establish more such centers to reach every child in need.
