Today afternoon, our survey team rescued again a Dumeril’s Black Headed snake from Mithileshwar. It was same size of yesterday’s injured one. Both are 8.3 inch in length, which are adults. This time villagers are sure about our rescue team for the rescue and we got him in full active species.The injured one is in better treatment in our office preparing to be in wild soon.

Today evening MWT team rescued again a rare species of snake called Dumeril’ Black Headed Snake (Sibynophis subpunctactus) which was seriously injured by the villagers. They call this non- venomous snake as young one of Cobra, and trying to kill. As our team reached on time, this live was able to rescue from that villagers. As there are two wounds on the body, we were not able to release him in the forest. Mavish added, without healing clearly, it is just like killing him. Once a wound hapens to this creatures, chances of germination of worms from flies eggs are more which can cause the death of the same. So only when the wound is healed, we will be releasing him in its habitat.We are taking care of him in our office in a separate enclosure.

MWT Research Team after One week survey inside DPF confirmed that population of Nilghai is reducing in an alarming rate which can lead to wiping of Nilghai from DPF. Our team was able to sight only 16 Nilghai of 32 in 2012 (by Forest Officials report), 17 Rhesus macaqua, 1 Langoor, 5 Asian open bill storks, 2 Lesser adjutant storks, 3 Horn bill etc. (detailed list of fauna of DPF to be enlisted and publish). Yesterday after noon a Python was sighted by some farmers from Mangalpur village which falls in buffer zone of Dhanusha Protected Forest (DPF). As MWT got a rescue call, we rashed to the spot in no time as our full team was near to that area for releasing rescued snake in DPF. Unfortunately, our Herpetologist, Mr.Mavish, Biologist Mr.Suvin (Trainee) and their team was not able to sight the snake said by the villagers. After two hour search to get that snake, (as by the different literature, rearly seen in this area) our herpetologist found number of holes and caves near to the pond into which the said snake might have escaped. According to villagers, snake was around ten feet long, yellow and brown patches with elongated triangular head. After showing the photographs and identification features, Mavish confirmed the snake as Python sp. Our team was very glad to say that we are getting into the peoples as, the number of rescue calls are getting increased day by day. Rescued second L.jara from Mithileshwar in this evening. As our team reached there jara was noticed inside cattle manure, our team cleared the area and rescued this rare species of snake and noticed a small wound happened by some spines or rusted iron peices nearby as chlidrens were trying to kill him.
