Empowering Forest Rangers: Snake Rescue and Rehabilitation Training Conducted in Udaypur

In an inspiring step toward wildlife conservation and human-wildlife conflict management, the Division Forest Office, Udaypur–Gaighat, successfully organized a comprehensive “Snake Rescue and Rehabilitation Training” on Jestha 5, 2082 BS, at the DFO meeting hall in Bokesi. This important initiative, conducted under the Provincial Forest Development and Management Program, was specially designed to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of frontline forest personnel who often encounter snakes during their daily duties.

The training provided participants with both theoretical understanding and hands-on experience in safe snake handling, rescue procedures, and rehabilitation practices. Recognizing the need for proper technical support in field situations, Mithila Wildlife Trust, in collaboration with local experts, proudly contributed a full set of scientific-grade snake rescue equipment to the Division Forest Office.

This gesture marks a significant step in strengthening institutional capacity and fostering collaboration between governmental and non-governmental conservation actors. We firmly believe that such initiatives will not only empower forest rangers but also play a vital role in reducing human-snake conflict in the long run—promoting coexistence, safety, and ecological balance.
