Snake Rescue Update: 13 Snakes Saved in Just 4 Weeks

In just one months, Mithila Wildlife Trust successfully rescued 13 snakes across Dhanusha, Mahottari, and Kathmandu. Our skilled and dedicated rescue team responded to both routine and emergency calls, ensuring the snakes were handled safely, humanely, and professionally.

Rescue Operations at a Glance

Venomous Snakes (9 rescued):

  • Common Cobra – 7

  • Common Krait – 1

  • Monocled Cobra – 1

Non-Venomous Snakes (4 rescued):

  • Rat Snake – 2

  • Burmese Python – 1

  • Buff-Checked Keelback – 1

Beyond Rescue — Training & Awareness

During this period, we also organized snake rescue and management training sessions for students, farmers, and community members. The training focused on:

  • Identifying venomous vs. non-venomous species

  • Safe, informed, and humane handling techniques

  • Understanding the ecological importance of snakes

By empowering local communities with knowledge, we aim to reduce human-snake conflict and promote coexistence.

Working Together for Wildlife

Several rescues were possible because concerned citizens called us instead of harming the snakes. Once rescued, each snake was safely relocated to a suitable habitat — ensuring their survival and maintaining ecological balance.
