Exciting Bird Sighting from Dhanusha, Madhesh Province!

Exciting Discovery at Dhanusha Bird Park!
On the peaceful morning of May 17, 2025, an extraordinary birdwatching moment unfolded in Dhanusha Bird Park, located within Mithila Bihari Municipality-2 & 3, Dhanusha District, Madhesh Province, Nepal. For the first time ever, the Brown-capped Pygmy Woodpecker (also known as the Indian Pygmy Woodpecker, Yungipicus nanus) was observed and documented in this region!

This tiny, energetic woodpecker, commonly found in parts of India and southern Nepal, has been recorded in other parts of Madhesh Province — like Rautahat — but until now, there had been no official sightings from Dhanusha. The presence of this species here marks a noteworthy extension of its known range and highlights the ecological richness of this carefully restored habitat.
