RESCUED A LESSER ADJUTANT STORK (VULNARABLE-IUCN) FROM POACHERS, MWT TEAM TRYING TO SAVE ITS LIFE…..

Today evening after the rescue of a rat snake, our chairman Mr. Dev Narayan Mandel and his companion noticed the mob chasing a Lesser Adjutant Stork which was badly and deeply wounded. It has been sling shorted by an villager for its flesh. The lower portion of its left leg was broken completely and bone was ejected out from the flesh. Our Chairman and team rescued him from the site and bought to our office from where it got first aid and a complete treatment by Mr. Mavish and team. He with the help of Santhosh Rajak, Suvin V.M., Mukesh Rajak, Lintumol P.K., Ram K. Mandal, cleaned the wound and applied medicines, by keeping a wooden piece in the broken leg and tied completely to get an motion less rest for that leg. Team feed the stork by opening its mouth and to avoid the bird to fly, we covered his wings completely with clothes. Though our team had tried their best, Chance of recovery and saving the life is only ten percentage. Let us hope for the best and pray for him to be again in the field and its natural habitat.
