As more than 84 percent population of the district still depends on the agriculture for their livelihood, it is need of time to commercialize agriculture for the sustainable development of communities in entire district. To reduce poverty level in the rural areas, MWT focuses on Sustainable Agriculture Programmes in and around the district.
Lacking irrigation facilities, agriculture is still depending on inadequate and unreliable rainfall. Most of the water resources are dried up including rivers in the district, so, we encourage water conservation.
People are using harmful fertilizer, pesticides and poisons in their agriculture which is creating serious health issues in the district.
We encourage agro biodiversity. Agro-forestry would curb out food insecurity of which would also form the bases for income generation activities.
