Wetland /water source management and protection is crucial for the preservation of the ecosystem. From animals to human, each and everyone needs water to survive and for their day-to-day life activities.

With the consideration of this concept Project of DI Parsa, first focuses on the management and protection of wetland and water sources. MWT had selected the pond; kamini daha, located in Amleshwor Buffer Zone User Group, Parsa National Park. Kamini daha is a small pond which is being surrounded by plants and vegetations. It is believed that the pond was built in the commemoration of king’s beloved . The pond got its name from the female of the blacksmith family.

The management work had been led by the engagement of the community members of the Buffer Zone User Groups. They cleared the surrounding bushes and vegetations around the pond and removed the debris and obstacle that has blocked the animal access to the water source and they regularly monitored the quality and quantity of the water so that the animals coming from the other places can get safe and reliable water source.

The purpose of protecting water source is to ensure the free access of animal to clear and safe water, to reduce human – animal conflict and to increase the number of the wild animals in the area by attracting them through the water source which will increase the opportunity for tourism and enhance the economic status of the community members.
