We are very happy to share that Mr. Dev Narayan Mandal, Chairman, Mithila Wildlife Trust has been awarded with International Environment Warriors Award-2021.

The award ceremony took place in Lumbini, Nepal on 27th and 28th November 2021 where around 100 environment warriors from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Thailand and Srilanka have been awarded as the International Environment Warrior and World Neem Warrior Award for their contribution towards the restoration of natural environment. Mr. Dev Narayan Mandal has been selected as an awardee towards his contribution through Mithila Wildlife Trust for reforestation and wildlife conservation in Province No.-2.

It will be necessary to mention here that, Mithila Wildlife Trust has reforested 50 hectares, planting over 70,000 tree saplings from 42 species in Bhatighari Community Forest and Murgiya Hariyali Community Forest, Dhanusha, Province No.-2, Nepal with financial support from Gemma and Chris McGough Charitable Foundation, Pipal Tree, UK and Department of Forest, Dhanusha in close coordination with Bhatighari CFUG and Murgiya CFUG. We have also been played an important role in the announcement of Dhanushadham Protected Forest as “Illicit Felling and Open Grazing Free Area” and have been continuously rescuing wildlife from human settlement since 2013.

This is recognition of the continuous support by all supporting hands and well-wishers of Mithila Wildlife Trust.

We’re grateful to you all and the organizing committee for the recognition and are hopeful that this will encourage us to do more on the ground for the restoration of natural resources and conservation of wildlife in Nepal.
