Community Tree Nursery Program

As part of Mithila Wildlife Trust’s mandate, we educate others about the importance of environmental conservation and wildlife protection.
While we continue to visit lots of villages and schools (almost 1 per week!), one community project we are excited about is our Tree Nursery Program!
At the Dhanushadham Protected Forest we have an ongoing tree nursery. We give tree saplings to anyone who asks for a tree and plant the saplings in the Protected Forest as well, just prior to the monsoon season.
Local members of the community help with the maintenance and upkeep of the tree saplings.
If you want to get a tree, or just want to help out, please come to the Dhanushadham Protected Forest!

On 02nd April 2015, we received a rescue call at 9:30AM from Mr. Ravindra Pandit, a local resident of Mithileshwar Mauwahi VDC. He requested to reach as much earlier as possible, mentioning that around 50 people have gathered around and they are trying to kill the snake.

MWT Chairman rushed to the spot and searched for the snake. The snake was hiding in an old brick wall. It took little bit time to rescue the hiding snake, but we were able to save life of a speechless creature. Snake is around 5.5ft long Common Cobra (Naja naja) and is transported to Dhanushadham Protected Forest.

Mithila Wildlife Trust rescued a Banded Krait (Bungarus fasciatus) from Bhoyl village, Dhanusha. The snake was roaming nearby the Temple where Shivcharcha (a Special worship for Lord Shiva) was going on, so, people were misguided to superstitious beliefs. They hit the snake with a stick, the snake couldn’t move due to pain and they kept the snake in a steel drum. People coming to the temple were paying a minimum amount and they were praying the snake too.
